The Mammalian Phenotype (MP) Ontology provides standard terms for annotating phenotypic data for all mammalian organs and tissues. The terms are organized into a searchable, hierarchical database that is part of the Mouse Genome Informatics website developed at the Jackson Laboratory (Bar Harbor, Maine, www.informatics.jax.org). Shown below is a pupil optic-nerve section of a normal adult mouse eye and the associated list of terms for structural abnormalities. These are some of the abnormalities we identify in our high-throughput screen of genetically altered mice.
We have established a scalable, multilevel, high-throughput phenotyping laboratory to identify mouse models for eye disease.
